Start by placing some of the candy coating in a microwave safe bowl and heat on half power, stopping to stir every 30 seconds. Continue to heat and stir until thoroughly melted, but be careful not to overheat the coating or it could burn.
Spoon some coating into each mold and then use a toothpick to spread the coating into the corners.
Gently drop the mold a few times to settle the coating and flatten it out a bit.
Then use your finger to wipe away any messy edges or stray coating so that your suckers come out nice and neat.
Place a stick in each cavity and then roll it a couple of times so that it's submerged in the coating. Place the mold in the freezer for 15 minutes or so, until very firm. Pop the suckers out and let them come to room temperature on a piece of parchment paper. Make sure all the condensation has been evaporated before continuing on to the next step.
Use a brush to generously dab luster dust on each star to give it shimmer. Shake off any excess. As necessary, fold the parchment in half and funnel the powder back in the jar to utilize the excess.
Cut a 4" piece of gold glitter tape, remove the backing and fold in half around the sucker stick. Use scissors to taper the end and create a shooting star tail. And, Voila!....they're done!
