STEP 1: PREPARE THE WHITE MILK JELLO AND REFRIGERATE
Lightly spray the telephone mold with non-stick baking spray and set aside. Next, Place 1/8 cup of cold water in a small bowl and sprinkle 1/2 of the unflavored gelatin envelope over the water (save the rest of the gelatin for another use). Let the gelatin mixture sit for 2 minutes to soften. Next, add 1/4 cup of boiling water to the mixture and whisk until the gelatin is dissolved and then whisk in 1/4 of the can of sweetened condensed milk. Prop the telephone mold in the fridge so that the rotary dial cavity is flat and level and gently fill the rotary cavity with the white milk jello mixture. (Note: I used a measuring cup with a spout to pour this more easily and also had lots of liquid left over). Refrigerate the mold for 20 minutes until firm, but still a little tacky.
STEP 2: PREPARE THE RED JELLO, REFRIGERATE AND UNMOLD
While the milk jello is hardening, prepare the red jello by placing 1 1/2 envelopes of jello in a bowl and add 1 cup of boiling water. (Save the rest of the jello powder for another use). Whisk to dissolve and then add the remaining 3/4 can of sweetened condensed milk and any left over white milk jello liquid and whisk again to combine. Once the white part of the mold is solid, prop the telephone mold again so that the entire mold is level (i placed it in a cake pan) and fill all the cavities with the red jello. You will have a small amount of mixture left over. Refrigerate the mold for 3-4 hours or overnight until it's very firm. To unmold, turn the mold over the serving plate and gently squeeze and twist the mold until the pieces drop out. (Be careful when doing because it can happen suddenly). Place the two parts of the phone receiver together and once in place, insert a toothpick in each end so the two sides don't slide apart. Add red licorice whips for the cord.
