Sometimes called gum glue, this recipe uses only two ingredients and is essential for every cake decorator's repetoire. It's quick to make and is easily stored for up to a month in an airtight container in the fridge. Mix Tylose Powder and water to get a viscous liquid that works well for adhering fondant or gum paste together or use it as a light sticky coating to get more disco dust coverage on finished pieces. Less mess and drips and better sticking power make this a go to recipe in the cake making process.
1/2 Tsp. Tylose Powder
1/4 Cup of Warm Water
In a small container with a lid, stir together the Tylose Powder and water. The mixture may be a bit lumpy, which is fine. Place the lid on and put in the fridge overnight. The next day, the glue will be clear and ready to use. The consistency should still be runny so add a touch more water if necessary to make it more fluid.
Tip: If you are using edible glue to attach a dried decoration to your cake, brush the surface with gum glue and let it set for a few seconds until the glue is tacky before attaching.
