Sparkly Snowflake Cupcake How-To
These sparkly snowflake covered cupcakes are the perfect addition to your Holiday dessert table or Christmas meal. Our fondant snowflake punch cutter makes it really easy to create instant cupcake toppers and the quick addition of some sparkly disco dust makes these easy cupcakes a glamorous treat.
You can definitley use a box mix cake and store bought icing but since we're partial to making cupcakes from scratch, check out our Vanilla Cake Recipe our Classic Chocolate Cake Recipe and our go to buttercream recipe: Brenda's Bakery Buttercream.
1) 1-3 DAYS AHEAD: PUNCH OUT FONDANT SNOWFLAKES AND ADD GLITTER
On a surface covered lightly with powdered sugar, roll the white fondant as thinly as possible. Press the cutter into the fondant and then gently press the plunger to make a stamped impression.
Lift the cutter and fully press the plunger to remove the snowflakes.
Set the snowflakes aside on a parchment covered tray to dry one day or longer until they are firm enough to stand up in a cupcake.
Pipe dots or lines with piping gel in any area that you want the glitter to adhere.
On a piece of paper, sprinkle the snowflakes with Disco Dust and shake off the excess.
Once finished, fold the paper in half in order to funnel the excess disco dust back into the jar.
2) BAKE, ICE AND DECORATE
Bake the cupcakes according to the package directions and cool. Ice each cupcake and top with various snowflakes. Sprinkle with course sugar.
